Vanguard Charitable offers two options for international granting: 1.) Utilize U.S.-based charities by granting through intermediaries 2.) Premier accounts ($1 million or more) may work with Vanguard’s global grantmaking partner, Charities Aid Foundation of America (CAF America)

Accepts Illiquid Contributions

Vanguard Charitable accepts contributions of cash equivalents, publicly traded securities (including restricted shares on a case-by-case basis), shares of most nonproprietary mutual funds, and complex assets on a case-by-case basis.

3rd Party Advisors

You may have a maximum of two account advisors with ongoing account privileges and access. An account advisor may also nominate an individual as an interested party to receive information, and advisory privileges at varying levels of access.

Tax Requirements

Vanguard Charitable expects its grant distributions to be at least 5% of average net assets on a current five-year rolling basis.

Minimum Grant Frequency

A grant must be made at least every 3 years.

Overall Grant Restrictions

Vanguard Charitable cannot grant to Type III non-functionally integrated supporting organizations. Grants will not be issued to individuals or private non-operating foundations.

Grants may be sent anonymously, fully attributed or something in between. You choose how you want to be recognized, or not, each time you recommend a grant.
