International Granting

International grants may be approved if the organization has a postal mailing address in the United States. You may also recommend a grant disbursement to a U.S. intermediary charity that will pass the funds on to the approved foreign charity.

Accepts Illiquid Contributions

Generally acceptable asset contributions include: cash, stocks, mutual funds, real estate, tradable municipal bonds, pre-IPO shares, C or S corp stock, LLC & LP interests, life insurance, annuities, & distributions from other DAFs or private foundations. Gifts of short-term or tax-exempt securities are NOT acceptable.

3rd Party Advisors

A donor may designate their spouse, children of legal age, other descendants, heirs, or representatives as advisors to the account. All donors & donor advisors named for a charitable account have the authority to select charitable organizations for grants & request exchanges among Donor Advised Funds.

Political or Religious Affiliation

U.S. Charitable Gift Trust is independent of any religious or political organizations.

Tax Requirements

Generally, the Trust intends to make aggregate grants of a minimum of 5% of the Trust’s average net assets per year. If this benchmark is not met in a given year, the Trust may contact donors or advisors & provide them with the opportunity to recommend grants of such amounts so that the DAF account will have made grants totaling at least 5% of its value.

Overall Grant Restrictions

Grants may not be made to any private non-operating foundations, non-functionally integrated Type III supporting organizations, or Type I, Type II, or Type III functionally integrated supporting organizations.

Provides Anonymity

Donors may choose from 3 options of recognition: full disclosure, partial disclosure, & anonymity. Anonymity will not disclose any donor information with the grant and only have information that the gift came from the U.S. Charitable Gift Trust.

Investment Options

U.S. Charitable Gift Trust offers a broad range of investment funds managed by Eaton Vance & its affiliates, including responsible investing funds managed by Calvert, which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Eaton Vance. You may recommend the allocation of your contributions among the 8 Investment Funds.

Transferability to Another Sponsor

Assets can be transfered to another DAF sponsor that is also a 501(c)(3) charitiy.
